À LA RENCONTRE DE BUBBLE’S HOME

MEET BUBBLE'S HOME

I found the Flycup concept super cool! It would save me a bag, it's really practical. In the summer I have a lot of orders with 3 or 4 drinks, so it would work really well.”

Marine Reymond, founder and director of Bubble's Home .

A few days ago, the Flycup team went to meet Bubble's Home, restaurants located in the heart of Aix en Provence and on the Old Port of Marseille. THE Bubble's Home are essential addresses to satisfy the sweet desires of our taste buds where quality and know-how are the key words of these restaurants.

We were able to try the famous Bubble Tea there, and Marine Reymond, the founder and manager, also took part in a short interview.

INTERVIEW…

CAN YOU EXPLAIN TO US THE HISTORY OF THE CREATION OF YOUR BUBBLE'S HOME?

The first Bubble's Home in Marseille was created in August 2018 and opened a few months later and that of Aix in July 2022.

My husband and I have traveled a lot and we have seen this concept all over Europe, notably in Greece, England, Spain, etc. It started to develop in Europe about 5 years ago, but in recent years it has boomed.

The creation of Bubble's Home comes from a personal frustration, which is that of not being able to combine waffles, French version, of Nutella with Smarties for example. It was something we only found abroad, because it's originally Taiwanese street food.

Following this observation, a week after my husband and I had the idea, we made a test recipe which was validated by those around us, then the first company was born 3 months later. »

WHAT IS THE CONCEPT OF BUBBLE’S HOME?

It’s a totally customizable Bubble Waffle (waffles) and Bubble Tea (drinks) concept. The waffle batters are homemade, lactose-free, which explains why it is very light and not heavy in the mouth.

The products we choose for manufacturing are 100% French and local products. The ice creams used come from Maison de la Glace , a Marseille institution and the fruits are all fresh, we don't want frozen. For the toppings ( Kinder , Nutella, etc.), they come from official brands.

As for Bubbles Tea, these are drinks made from iced green tea or fruit juice. The pearls are made from vegetable husks only (agar agar algae), which makes them very fine, and inside there is a fruity syrup. We also make milk teas, it’s a little more special.

We also have other à la carte products that complement our Bubble Tea and Bubble Waffle. However, we remain in a “single product” perspective because we prefer to do one thing well and for customers to be satisfied, rather than spreading ourselves thin. »

WHAT ARE YOUR VALUES AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THESE IN PARTICULAR?

We chose local production, because like Nutella and other types of toppings are quite heavy, we wanted to bring something that was as beautiful as it was tasty. The goal is to sell quality and offer a sort of somewhat healthy snack to our customers, and somehow distance ourselves from the street food image. »

WHAT ARE YOUR CUSTOMERS’ FAVORITE PRODUCTS?

The Bubble Waffle with vanilla ice cream, Kinder bueno and Nutella is truly THE flagship waffle.

For the Bubble Teas, I would say that it is the peach tea ones with leetchi or raspberry pearls, they are really the essentials. We also sell a lot of milkshakes in summer, they too are customizable drinks like all of our products, we really choose according to our tastes. »

HAVE YOU IMPLEMENTED CERTAIN PRACTICES TO FIGHT AGAINST POLLUTION?

Nothing to date because we work a lot with plastic materials. We're still trying to switch to cardboard, but where things get stuck is with the cups. Paper cups didn't go with Bubble Tea.

When we changed to cardboard for a more eco-friendly appearance, we received a lot of comments from customers, because they could no longer see the Bubble Teas from the outside. However, it is something important for them, so we went back because unfortunately we could not find an alternative solution. We really have a problem with customer demand, and what we offer. »

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE INTEGRATION OF FLYCUP DRINK IN YOUR RESTAURANT? HOW INTERESTING WOULD THIS BE TO YOU?

I found the concept super cool! It would save me a bag, it's really practical. In the summer I have a lot of orders with 3 or 4 drinks, so it would work really well. It would replace the “2 holes” that I currently use, and the fact of carrying them in the hands because they are not really stable, that requires really having a bag with the right dimensions, unlike the Flycup which is much more stable .

I think that the fact that it is customizable is good for the brand image, people see straight away what it is about, it would be interesting for us because it is marketing and additional communication. »

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS FOR THE RESTAURANT?

The first objective was to create a franchise when we started the company, but here we are between two waters. We have a lot of demands, but we are in a particular context with an increase in raw materials, such as flour, milk, etc.

So we want to, but we give ourselves time, we don't want to do anything. We really want to launch Aix, and when that is in place we will consider launching another store. »

COULD YOU SHARE WITH US YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WORKING IN THE RESTAURANT INDUSTRY?

I was a sector manager, I had to position products in mass distribution, I also created decoration solutions for architects, and in the end I arrived in the restaurant industry like a hair in the soup, I had no idea never worked in there!

I love contact with customers, getting their positive feedback, etc. But it's hard for family life, you work on weekends, during vacations, etc. But overall I enjoy it, and the fact that I sell good things I like that. Seeing customers leave with a smile is what I really love and I also have a top team, it’s a blessing. »
